Steve began in the television production business in 1980, working for his father’s company Greatest Sports Legends. It was there he won a Sports Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing on a documentary about Jackie Robinson.

In 1986, Steve formed his own company, Steve Rotfeld Productions. Over the next several years, he executive produced and wrote shows for networks such as ESPN, TLC, Travel Channel, and Animal Planet. From 2008 to 2013, he EP’d and wrote The Haney Project for Golf Channel, which featured Charles Barkley, Ray Romano, Michael Phelps, and others.

In 2014, he created, EP’d, and distributed a 3-hour block of pop-science shows called Xploration Station, which continues to air in over 100,000,000 U.S. homes, and throughout the world. Xploration Station has won three Daytime Emmys, and been nominated for 23 Daytime Emmys.

Most recently, Steve EP’d Weird But True for Disney+, and several documentary projects for National Geographic.

Through Steve’s leadership, SRP has amassed an owned catalogue of 1,500 episodes in various genres, including sports, children’s, archival documentary, science, and exploration.

Personally, Steve is a huge Philadelphia 76ers fan, and can’t wait for Joel Embiid to bring a championship to Philly!
